Big day. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted U.S. Patent No. 12,599,540, titled "Pressure pad headgear device," on April 14, 2026. I'm listed as the inventor.
The patent covers headgear with adjustable straps and pressure pads that can be positioned and set to apply pressure to chosen areas of the head. That's the core idea behind The Vise: taking the kind of targeted, hands-on pressure I use with patients in clinic and building it into something you can put on at home.
What it means
- The idea is protected. The concept behind The Vise has been reviewed and granted in the U.S.
- There's more coming. An additional patent is pending.
- Now we build. A patent isn't a finished product. The work now is engineering, prototyping and testing so the device is comfortable, adjustable and built right.
